Dedicated shelter pet advocate, Sir Darius Brown, selected as 1 of 100 Global Child Prodigies of the world to be honored in Dubai

Sir Darius Brown is set to be honored in Dubai as the creative advocate for shelter pets and has been invited to attend the upcoming 2022 Global Child Prodigy Awards. The teenage social entrepreneur was selected out of thousands of nominees from 68 countries from different parts of the world and will be honored alongside 99 other prodigies of the world. In a related development, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to raise funds to help him attend the grand ceremony in August.

The Global Child Prodigy Awards (GCPA) is the world’s first and only initiative that recognizes top prodigies of the world that have displayed exceptional talents and uniqueness from various verticals and provides recipients with a global platform to shine. Therefore, it was no surprise that Sir Darius Brown was selected as one of the 100 prodigies to receive the prestigious award in Dubai on August 20, 2022. The 15-year-old powerhouse teen social entrepreneur, speaker, shelter pet advocate, and philanthropist is also the founder of Beaux & Paws, where he designs and creates handmade stylish bow ties.

“I’m extremely honored to be named a Global Child Prodigy, but I’m just doing what I love to do, creating bow ties, being in the presence of and interacting with dogs, and helping them get adopted and finding homes. My goal is to use this platform to continue being a voice for the voiceless and to encourage and inspire other youth to use their talents and passions to give back to the community and to those in need,” says Sir Darius Brown.

The feat achieved by Sir Darius is particularly laudable; diagnosed with speech comprehension and fine motor skills delay at age two. However, the challenges only inspired him to push boundaries. His fine motor skills started to improve after he began assisting his older sister with cutting fabric and learning how to use a sewing machine, subsequently discovering his passion for making bow ties. The havoc caused by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma in 2017 motivated Sir Darius to create bow ties to help displaced dogs look dapper and adorable and ultimately increase their chances of being noticed and adopted faster into fur-ever homes. The dog lover went on to start an initiative, Sir Darius’ PAW-SOME Mission, to help save shelter pets’ lives by donating his handmade bow ties to animal shelters across the nation, volunteering and participating in adoption events, and spotlighting shelter pets on his social media. In 2022, he created and began donating “Wag Bags,” personal VIP bags for dogs and cats in shelters filled with essential items, such as food, treats, bowls, toys, collars, leashes, bow ties, and waste bags. Sir Darius has utilized this platform to be a voice for the voiceless by bringing more awareness to adopting shelter pets, helping raise over 300K to support animal shelters, has donated over 4000+ bow ties, and has helped countless dogs and cats find loving homes.

The fundraising campaign will cover flights, hotel accommodations, ground transportation, food, service project participation, educational excursions, filming of his journey, and other miscellaneous expenses, as well as help Sir Darius continue his mission with his philanthropic initiative as he continues in the pursuit of decreasing euthanasia rates by helping shelter pets find forever homes.
