Local Acrobatic Arts Instructor, Lonnetta Grant, is Changing Black Girls’ Lives Everywhere Through Acrobatic Dance
Forestville, MD – February 28, 2020 – Lonnetta Grant, a Certified Acrobatic Arts Instructor in Alixa Flexibility, as well as the creator of the Dynasty Institute Training Method™, wants young black girls and women everywhere to know that she is specifically working with the African American community to show them the benefits and life skills obtained in professional acro training today.
Prioritizing in teaching the whole dancer, from the inside out, so that they will emerge from her teaching with more than just physical dance memorization, Grant reinforces positivity, motivation, and passion in all of her dancers.
“It is my absolute pure passion to teach acro dance technique, tumbling, strength, and conditioning to all of the amazing black girls and women in the U.S. today,” said Grant. “Oftentimes, the African American community does not consider this kind of dance as one for their daughters expressing interest in dancing, which is why I wanted to change the conversation for everyone in the DC Metro Area and beyond.”
Grant’s award-winning acro dance choreography has been featured in some of the top dance competitions around the U.S. today, with acknowledgments in creativity, innovation, and presentation. Among the hundreds of students that have trained with Grant to date, many have gone on to dance at: The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, the Dance Institute of Washington, and the Debbie Allen Dance Company.
“As a mother myself, I know how impactful teachers, trainers, and coaches can be on the children in their care, which is why through my 15-years of teaching experience, I impart more than just dance knowledge on my dancers,” said Grant.
Grant comes with an extensive background in ballet, hip hop, jazz, cheerleading, tumbling, African dance, and contortion. She has received training from the likes of The Washington Ballet, Joy of Motion Dance Studio, and II Extreme Hip Hop Dance Company.
